This gem is located on the south end of the Waccamaw Golf Trail. The focal point of Pawleys Plantation is its award-winning Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, featuring several holes that literally extend out into the saltwater marsh. Great golf, a golf school, onsite dining, accommodations and meeting facitlities are all available at Pawleys Plantation, recently ranked one of the top golf meeting destinations in the Southeast by Convention South.
The par 72 layout winds through hardwood and pine forests and along the saltwater marsh dividing Pawleys Island from the mainland. While landing areas and greens are generous, the course does require golfers to think their way around all 18 holes, remaining true to Nicklaus' belief that golf "is a game of precision as well as power." The front nine features tree-lined fairways and beautiful lakes, while the back nine delivers spectacular views of the salt marsh from six different holes, including the signature 13th hole. The TifEagle hybrid Bermuda grass greens offer subtle contours and run-offs typical to a Jack Nicklaus design. The golf course stretches to 7,026 yards from the "Golden Bear" tees and boasts a course rating of 75.7 and slope of 148. Its location ajacent to the saltwater marsh assures a prevailing ocean breeze that will be factored into practially every club selection. However with five sets of tee boxes there is a course available and suitable to challenge all levels of golfers of any age or gender.
